The Landing Gear Is Down!

Image
The landing gear is down! We took the water taxi out to San Pedro this morning, and we are now safe and sound in our apartment, 2 stories above the soon-to-be, Shoots Alive store!! God is SO good! After arriving in San Pedro at 11:30am. with roughly 800-1000lbs of cargo plus 3 suitcases, we got in contact with a guy with a pickup truck to haul our cargo a couple miles to the store complex. What did we bring that weighs around 800lbs?!?! Well, 3 wooden bourbon barrels which we repurposed for holding peppers etc. in the store, many many wooden shelves crafted by the awesome men of our house, a printer, boxes of store supplies, wooden signs, 4 bikes for transportation....and I probably forgot to mention some items!!! We are hoping to open our doors on May 13 for a very, very soft opening. Seeing as we are no pros at this, we want to start slow. Well, the next 6 weeks will be busy, so please forgive me if I don’t get the blog updated regularly. None the less, keep checking for new e...

Food, Beach, Cats and More!

Image
Well....seems like a little while since I last posted. I guess it's about time to post again! So, since you last heard, our cement pad did get poured but....well, I'll just leave it at that. On March 25th we took a trip out to San Pedro, one of Belize's islands (cayes). We had an offer a month and a bit ago to rent a small space there and set up a Shoots Alive store front there, so we decided to check it out for the 3rd time. We spent a few hours chatting with the land lord and walking around the space, then we of coarse had to stop for some ice cream, because it was Grady's birthday and because it is impossible to walk past an ice cream shop and not go in. We splashed in the sea a bit and before we knew it, we were on the last boat of the day heading back to the mainland.  So, after talking, taking trips and praying, we have just recently come to the conclusion that we will be going ahead with the store front! Mom, Grady, Keaton and I will be living out there ...

Up on the Hill

Image
For those of you who don't know, we do own land here in Belize. We started the cement pad for our future house up 'On the Hill' about 2 years ago, and finally, finally, it will be finished! Keaton, Dad and the 4 guys who will be finishing the foundation are up on the hill today putting the rebar into the foundation and getting water pumped from the 375ft. deep well all the way to the top of the property. God is GOOD, all the time, and ALL the time, God is good. Hopefully, if all goes as planned, we will be pouring the floor on Monday! Yay! So, what better to do when you have a bunch of guys working than make them....Cinnamon Rolls! Mmmmmm....I won't be posting the specific recipe, just some pictures...to make your mouth water!   Come to think of it, we should have used THIS mixer to make the Cinnamon Rolls!!!! That's all for now, but keep posted! *Mel and Paige

Matcha Coconut Bars

Image
Grady and I came across this recipe yesterday after searching for recipes that use Matcha powder. Main recipe is from veganwithbambi.com, no credit taken on my end, but we did add a few extra ingredients. Made with Oats, almonds, coconut, salt, Matcha powder, coconut oil, vanilla, sesame, maple syrup and chocolate chips.       ....That face says it all.... #Kitchen_Critic   *Mel and ME

Water Colour Pencils

Image
Well, I did this picture a few weeks ago but figured I could share it with you now! Water colour pencils really are pretty easy to use. Easier than water colour paints, if you ask me (and Mel!). Simply colour on a picture the sections that you want highlighted, then, using a wet paint brush, pull the colour to other sections of the picture. Voila! This first piece of work, I used a picture from a colouring book and painted/coloured on it,   this piece I drew myself, using a cardboard template I made for the hexagons. Also, please ignore on this picture that I absentmindedly spelled 'Healthy' wrong!!!!   Anyways, I hope you enjoy these posts! Comment or email me cool artwork YOU do, or renditions of the art I post, and I can share it on here!   *Mel and Paige
